Eating a slightly carbohydrate restricted diet meal means that you are going to need to learn how to get creative in the kitchen if you want to enjoy some of your favorite foods sans carbs. One of my favorite imitation carb meals is spaghetti squash. Spaghetti squash is not as popular as butternut or acorn squash but it is much faster to cook and I’m sure will become a favorite around your house pretty quickly.
Spaghetti squash gets it name from the spaghetti like strands of squash that it yields after cooking. It is a killer food to include in any fat loss diet as 1 cup of cooked spaghetti squash only contains about 10 grams of carbohydrates and 40 calories. Compare this to the 220 calories and +40 grams of carbohydrates you get with a cup of cooked pasta and you can see that making this simple switch is a no brainer for people looking for easy way to cut calories.
Here is a simple spaghetti squash recipe for you to use.

How to Prepare: Cut the spaghetti squash in half and remove seeds and loose stands of squash (the easiest way is to scrape it all out with a spoon). Place both halves of the squash face down in the microwave and cook for 8 minutes. When time is up flip the squash halves over, cover with a damp paper towel and cook for 7 more minutes. While the squash is in the microwave cook the ground beef in a non stick skillet with onions, olive oil, and salt & pepper. Once the beef is cooked, add the tomato sauce and simmer until the squash is done. When the squash has finished cooking completely, take it out (carefully as it will be hot) of the microwave, and run a fork repeatedly lengthwise down the squash. Strands of ‘spaghetti’ will come out. Do this for both halves. Place a serving of ‘spaghetti’ on a plate and cover with meat sauce. This recipe makes 2 servings so save half for later.
