Yeah, I know people have been posting gift guides since before Thanksgiving but I know that some of you are just starting holiday shopping today so this will be top of mind for you 🙂
I wanted to share with you my top 4 fit gifts for the holidays.
Matrix Lid

I originally bought this off an instagram ad (so I guess ads do work?) and like all IG purchases, I was very skeptical that it would actual work. Making a good ad is apparently much easier than making a good product. But Matrix Lid delivers. I love this thing. It turns a 20oz Yeti Tumbler into a protein shaker. The seal is great, so no leaks, and it has a plastic mesh insert to break up chunks. If you buy one for a friend, buy one for yourself as well! Check it out at MatrixLids.com
Ghost Hot Chocolate Protein Powder

There isn’t a ton of innovation in the protein powder space but Ghost has REALLY outdone themselves with this. Hot Chocolate Protein Powder.
Yup.
They use a special whey protein hydrolysate that doesn’t clump/curdle when you add hot water to it. It even has mini-marshmallows for that authentic hot chocolate touch. The flavor is legit as well – it passed the wife, 7yo, and 10yo taste test (that’s hard to do!). Get at GNC Here.

This is just a great product! There is nothing like coming in from working out in the garage gym when it is 30 degrees and being able to enjoy a hot chocolate post workout protein shake. I believe it is only a limited release so grab a tub while you can.
BioLite HeadLamp750

This week is the Winter Solstice and while days are going to start to get longer, it is still getting dark at 4pm here in the Northeast. A quality headlight it key for being able to stay active outside during these shorter days. I’ve tossed out and broken my fair share of headlights. The BioLite HeadLamp750 is a different breed.
This thing is amazing.
It has a built in 3000 mAh li-ion battery (so no more rummaging for AAA batteries) that will last 150 hours on low. It has a rear facing red light to alert cars of your presence. Safety while running, rucking, biking, walking at night is huge. As Michael Easter says “Rule 1, Don’t Die”. I don’t know why this isn’t a standard feature on more headlights. But what I think could be the best part of this headlight…the power. This thing will light your trail for 130 meters! I’ve gifted 2 this year and picked them up at my local REI.
GoRuck Ballistic Trainers

I have a long standing love affair with Reebok Crossfit Nanos. Not withstanding one misguided foray into Nike Metcons for a photoshoot several years ago, I have trained in Crossfit Nanos since their release a decade. I haven’t liked the newer models as much as the OG ones (Nano 2s FTW right?). Last year, I received a pair of the GoRuck MACV-1 boots as a gift. After about fives uses, they become my goto footwear. Lace them up to climb a mountain in the Catskills and then polish them up for a meeting business meeting in Boston. With this kind of utility and comfort – I thought I’d give the Ballistic Trainers a chance.
This turned out to be a great decision on my end. Squat, deadlift, 1000 step ups, run a mile or two, go grocery shopping, coach a youth lacrosse game – they can handle it all.
I appreciate GoRuck acknowledging that not everyone has feet like Cinderella and that some of us have feet more like Hobbits. The Ballistic Trainers are slightly wider in the toe area than most athletic shoes making them more comfortable and a better fit than anything I’ve worn in a long time.
These are a great gift for anyone (yourself included!). Check out the Low and Mid versions at GoRuck.com (pick up a sandbag while you are there!)
