Chris Pratt’s Sage Diet Advice for You

by

I never thought that some of the best diet advice I’d hear would come from Andy Dwyer on Parks & Recreation.

A couple years ago Chris Pratt, who played Andy Dwyer, was cast as Star Lord in the sci-fi film Guardians of the Galaxy. Unlike Andy, Star Lord was a lean and pseudo-muscled space hero. This meant that Chris needed to get down to work on his diet, and he did – shedding 65lbs for this role.

While everyone is always clamoring to know how movie star’s diet down for their blockbuster roles, this information is oftentimes better avoided than sought out, due to its sensational and fad driven nature.

The genesis of Chris Pratt’s 65 lb shakedown is different.

When a fan asked him for help losing weight, Chris didn’t give him the canned Hollywood diet spiel that ends up on the cover of Supermarket checkout line magazines. Instead he offered some rather sage advice.

“Six months seems like a long time unless you’re looking backwards… all you have to do is just a few things everyday and remain consistent, and time will fly just as fast as it flies if you’re working hard or not. If you just cut the crap out of your diet, and if you spend an hour a day doing something physical that will make you sweat, six months will pass by, you will feel better mentally, physically, spiritually — it all is tied together.”

The time it is going to take to transform your body isn’t very long in the grand scheme of your life. While the search for a rapid body transformation is attractive, the results are rarely a sustainable endeavor. But taking the long road (3, 6, 12, 18 months?) to change your body is actually the short road.

Have you ever said “Being 28 was the longest year of my life.”

Probably not (definitely not if you are currently 26).

I always tell clients that I want this to be the last time they ever have to lose this 20lbs. Taking the time to lose weight in a sustainable fashion is the biggest time saving hack you could ever implement. What could be more frustrating than losing the same 20lbs 2, 3, 0r 4 times. Nothing!

Is your current approach sustainable? What are the 2-3 things that you could do better or more consistently everyday to help reach your weight loss goal?

Find those things and focus on them.

Be persistent.

Time will fly by.

You’ll never have to lose this weight again.

Anti-Resolutions

Celebrating the new year often comes with making new year’s resolutions, and for decades the most popular resolution is weight loss. Since it’s the number one resolution, you can bet it’s also among the resolutions that get broken year after year. Why do people struggle with weight loss and, more importantly, their nutrition?
